Vice President, Engineering
As Vice President of Engineering and a licensed professional engineer, Diego’s responsibilities include managing and advising the engineering and quality assurance teams and ensuring that their work adheres to AltairStrickland’s core technical competencies.
The engineering/quality departments are leaders in the field of static equipment repairs, alterations and installation and use several analytical and empirical tools to achieve their goals. Diego oversees the use of these tools in addition to those departments’ collaboration with other business units and clients.
Diego has been in the oil and gas industry for over 15 years in an array of technical and supervisory roles. Prior to joining AltairStrickland, he held roles such as Reliability Engineer, Turnaround Engineer, and Capital Projects Manager for major operators including BP, Marathon Petroleum, and Valero.
His experience and academic achievements have prepared him to lead and specialize in lifting and heavy haul strategies, welding process sections/design, and static equipment design including but not limited to pressure vessels, piping, and structural systems. Diego’s involvement in project logistics and management have equipped him to utilize engineering practices and further optimize scope to promote safety, effectiveness, and reliability.
Diego has Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from the University of Houston. He is an active member of numerous organizations, including the Cullen College of Engineering Leadership Board, American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), and American Welding Society (AWS) branches.
Diego enjoys spending time and traveling the world with his wife and children. As a loyal alumnus of the University of Houston, he also enjoys attending university functions and athletic events.
